Eleven years ago, in December, we created a programming language for traders. Before we released it to the world, we needed a name for this creation, and we found the inspiration we needed by looking outside from our office balcony and seeing all the festive trees outside. Since then, Pine Script™ has grown leaps and bounds, from an initial v1 sapling to a mighty v6 tree, with numerous features based on the requests and feedback from all of you in our community.
Today, we want to share the festive spirit with you and celebrate Pine’s evolution. You might have noticed that we’ve decorated our Pine Script® logo in the User Manual. We’ve also added a special section and tag for all the Community scripts that share the holiday cheer.
To participate in the celebration, write your best holiday-themed script and publish it with the “Christmas” tag. Draw a festive tree, some vintage decorative lights, fancy snowflakes — get creative! Your festive script will appear in the dedicated Christmas Pine tab of the Community section in the Indicators, Metrics & Strategies menu.
You can also unwrap Christmas scripts from under the “Christmas Pine” tree in the Indicators and strategies section of the Community menu.
Unlike the usual criteria for script publications, there’s no requirement for these festive scripts to be useful in a trading or technical analysis context, and they don’t have to include detailed descriptions explaining how they work. Instead, we suggest you write your best wishes to the Pine programmers around you in the description. Note that our script moderators will still check them out to ensure nothing untoward is happening, such as advertising, spam, and unauthorized use of copyrighted content (and you don’t want to get onto their Naughty List!).
We’ll see you in 2025. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
